USE OF THE PLATFORM

  1. Only Upload Your Own Work

Onesha is a platform for sharing your own creative work — not for uploading or sharing other people's work that you like. Please do not upload projects related to non-creative services or products that you are selling. If you want to show your appreciation for someone else's work, you can scroll to the bottom of the project and click the "Like" button, you can leave them a positive comment, or you can promote their work via social sharing sites like Twitter, Facebook or Pinterest. Do not upload other people's work into your own portfolio. This creates confusion about who originally authored the work and may lead to a ban on your profile. We are all about people getting credit for what they create.

  2. Do not post inappropriate content

Onesha aspires to be a welcoming and inclusive community. Please don’t post content that is:

    • Illegal
    • Pornographic, mature in content, or gratuitously or overly sexual, racist, sexist, or otherwise offensive
    • Shockingly graphic, grotesque, or obscene
    • Inflammatory (e.g. name-calling, preaching, ranting, stirring up controversy, or venting frustrations
    • If you post inappropriate content, it may be removed by Onesha per our Terms of Service. Onesha has final say over whether content is appropriate. If you repost content that’s been removed or continue to post content that violates these guidelines your account may be suspended or removed.

  3. Use our messaging feature to contact Onesha members about serious work inquires

When sending a message to a creative, please follow these guidelines:

    • Your message must be a work inquiry regarding a design job or project.
    • Please personalize the messages you send — don’t send boilerplate messages. They tend to feel impersonal and lack the detail necessary to be appealing. This means you should use their name, provide a brief description of the work or job for which you’re hiring, and any details you find compelling about the designer’s work on Onesha.
    • Please make sure the creative you’re contacting is a good fit for your job or project as indicated by the work, bio and skills on their profile. Many creatives also declare the type work in which they’re interested on their profile — so make sure your message conforms with their stated preferences.
    • Have a specific job or project in mind when contacting a creative Don’t ask if someone is generally looking for new opportunities or if anyone they know is looking for new opportunities.

  4. Respect Intellectual Property Rights

Don't present other people's work as your own or overstate your own role in creating something. Don't use other people's trademarks without permission. If you aren't sure whether your use of someone else's content or trademark in your own work is legal, you can consult publicly available reference materials at the Kenyan Copyright Official website, the Kenyan Patent & Trademark Office website, the Chilling Effects website, or talk to an intellectual property attorney. If you want to report misuse of your own creative work or your own trademark by one of our users, you can do that here.

If you have a contract or other dispute with a Onesha user about content they have uploaded to our site, please click the "message" button on that user's profile and ask them to take it down. We can't moderate contract or other disputes between our users and the public.

Concerning copyright transfer to clients by creatives, all creatives are to take responsibility of transferring the rights of usage to the client. NOT ONESHA.

ONESHA MAY USE A CREATIVE’S CONTENT POSTED ON THE ONESHA WEBSITE FOR MARKETING PURPOSES OF THE CREATIVE’S WORK TO PROSPECTIVE CLIENTS. THIS MAY BE IN FORM OF SPONSORED POSTS OR FEATURE ON OUR SOCIAL MEDIA PAGES AND BLOGS. HOWEVER, ONESHA WILL NOT GO TO THE EXTREMES OF USING YOUR CONTENT IN MAINSTREAM MEDIA LIKE TV, RADIO AND BILLBOARDS UNLESS IT’S A TASK EXECUTED BY A CREATIVE IN RESPONSE TO A JOB POSTING ON THE ONESHA WEBSITE.
